Adventures of a Journalist: A short novel by Jason Quirk

Author’s Note: Adventures of a Journalist aka My Schizophrenic Job had no editor. Unfortunately, the original title did not reflect the feeling of the novel. This book was written in the late 90s (true story) when I began to write again. I tried to make schizophrena funny in an adventurous or picaresque way. It is perhaps once again a noble failure like Saul’s Dreaming.

The book was found early this year and one of the final chapters was missing (chapter 19). This chapter dealt with suicide but I believe the book still works without this chapter. I do however remember the final line of this chapter, ‘suicide is for the birds before Resolution’.

Silly and yet serious, it contains the hope and imagination of a man who tries, and l hope achieves, to look on the bright side despite the odds stacked against him.

It is my odyssey of the mind.

And yes I am a proud reader of Tintin.
