Name: Josie
Age: 69
Occupation: Retired enrolled nurse
Favourite Movie: The Sound of Music (1965)
First Saw It: I’m pretty certain my mum took us to see it at the movies at the local theatre
Starring: Julie Andrews, Christopher Plummer, Eleanor Parker, Richard Haydn and, of course, the children
Plot: A Rodgers and Hammerstein musical based on the Von Trapp family as they flee Nazi Germany just before the outbreak of World War II.

Josie Says: I saw the musical on stage at Her Majesty’s Theatre and one of the girls from my school was in it. I’ve lost count how many times I’ve watched the movie – fourteen or fifteen – I have in on DVD. I love everything about this movie… the music, the dancing… I love the way the nuns sing. My favourite song in the movie is My Favourite Things by Julie Andrews. I thought she was wonderful and her whole aura as she went from the convent to the palace where the Von Trapps lived. I loved Captain Von Trapp too. I adored him. The children were very talented and the costumes and how they were made out of curtains was really fabulous. I love how they escaped the Nazis and also the ending when they went over the mountains. Another of my favourite songs was 16 Going on 17 as I had a boyfriend at that age and we didn’t go out as it was really innocent. Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer were teamed up quite well. I saw Mary Poppins… I think I have seen all of Julie Andrews movies but The Sound of Music is the best.
