Phil Says: I’ve only seen this film a few times but it started by interest in caving which is my lifetime passion. It’s the kind of thing I treasure in my memory and I want to see the remake. I think what I like about the movie is that the idea is plausible and possible. I always wondered what it would be like to go underground and find a hidden world and not knowing whether I would survive and make my way back to the surface. For me, it was the start that got me going as they went into that volcano, finding passages and tunnels and a cavern… Also for me it is the planning which is more important than the adventure itself. I thought the actors did a good job. I was really impressed by James Mason. I’d love to be like him: strong and a good leader. I liked the dinosaurs and the finding of an inhabited world where you had to run and keep your wits about you. The enjoyment of the movie still lingers in my mind… but I don’t want to see it too often as it might spoil it… but I’d like to see it once again before I die.
